Heritage Expeditions Releases 2023-24 Southern Ocean Season Including New Destinations

Pioneering New Zealand-based expedition cruise company Heritage Expeditions has released its 2023-24 Southern Ocean Season adding some exciting destinations to its iconic voyages.

Commercial Director and Expedition Leader Aaron Russ said, “the 2023-24 season proudly continues Heritage Expeditions tradition of exceptional, personalised adventures sharing unforgettable, intimate explorations of some of the world’s best kept secrets, cultural encounters and wilderness and wildlife hotspots.”

Heritage Expeditions new Southern Ocean Season sees the company exploring the island paradise of the South Pacific, down to the wild and remote Subantarctic Islands, returning to the heart of Antarctica, the Ross Sea, and the coastlines and islands of New Zealand aboard their luxurious expedition flagship, Heritage Adventurer.

Among the new destinations are Komodo National Park, land of the Komodo Dragon, and Jacques Cousteau’s ‘underwater nirvana’ Wakatobi National Park joining the tropical paradise of Raja Ampat and whale sharks of Kwatisore Bay on an 18-day  Indonesian Explorer voyage sailing from Bali to Madang. The itinerary revisions turn what was already an unforgettable voyage into a real Indonesia bucket list adventure.

“With New Zealand’s borders about to open up to the world again, small ship expedition cruising is the perfect way to experience parts of the country still unexplored even by many New Zealanders”, said Aaron Russ. “With more than 35 years’ experience exploring New Zealand’s coastlines and islands, our immersive wilderness expeditions are created to share parts of New Zealand many visitors, and New Zealanders alike, rarely get the chance to experience.”

Heritage Expeditions 2023-24 Southern Ocean Season is now on sale.

About Heritage Expeditions

Every year Heritage Expeditions voyages with small groups of between 18 and 140 intrepid travellers to some of the most unique and remote islands, coasts and shorelines on earth aboard their expedition ships Heritage Adventurer and Heritage Explorer on voyages ranging from 5 – 31 days.

Founded in 1985 by the Russ family in Christchurch, New Zealand, Heritage Expeditions is still proudly family-owned and operated. Contributing to conservation through experiential learning and providing funds for research and management, they are pioneers in environmentally-responsible expedition travel offering intimate group excursions to Antarctica and the Subantarctic Islands, through the Pacific, and around New Zealand on their purpose-built expedition ships.

Each expedition is meticulously planned and led by a team of botanists, ornithologists, naturalists and experts in their field, ensuring passengers maximise every opportunity to learn, discover and experience as much as possible, while minimising the impact of their visit and returning as ambassadors for these very special places.
