Ongoing Market Demand Leads One Ocean Expeditions to Early Launch of 2018 Arctic Cruise Program

With interest in the Arctic at an all-time high and bookings for 2017 already surpassing expectations, specialist adventure cruise operator, One Ocean Expeditions (OOE), is launching its 2018 Arctic programme early to align with the increase in customer demand and growing market interest.

Particularly proud to be showcasing the Canadian Arctic to the world, the specialist tour operator features a comprehensive programme of circumpolar Arctic cruise itineraries in Canada, the Maritimes, West Greenland and Norway.  Ranging from seven to 12 nights, voyages include three departures of the popular ‘Classic Northwest Passage’ route following in the wake of early explorers to one of the last remaining great wilderness regions on the planet.  Wildlife highlights abound with sightings of polar bear, walrus, seals (harp, grey, bearded, monk), caribou, hare, fox, and myriad bird species.

New for 2018, OOE is introducing their inaugural circumpolar Art in the Arctic program, the most comprehensive visual art package available north of the Arctic Circle.  Art in the Arctic bridges both the Canadian and Norwegian High Arctic through visual impressions and creativity.

Passengers with or without painting experience will have the opportunity to interpret on paper their view of the landscape, wildlife and culture of this polar region, as resident artists* from around the world guide them through the creative process, using a variety of media from chalk and pencil to water colours and oils.

In addition, a team of polar experts will accompany each OOE voyage, to guide the many wildlife, photographic and cultural excursions and to lead the various activities and expeditions available, such as sea kayaking, hiking, zodiac cruising and yoga.

Experts include passionate wilderness guide and expedition leader, Boris Wise, life-long ornithologists, Dick Filby and Simon Boyes, historian and polar addict, Katie Murray, local Inuit guide, Ted Irniq, and award-winning photographer, conservationist and long-time friend of OOE, Daisy Gilardini.

Also new for the 2018 season OOE is introducing ‘Canada’s East Coast Golf Expedition’, a seven-night voyage highlighting some of the best-known golf courses in the country, hidden along the East Coast.  Passengers enjoy the luxury of waking up each morning to a new course and the ease of boarding an expedition zodiac to take them ashore for their next round.  With a few extra special expedition stops to Sable Island and Les Iles de Madeleine also featured, this itinerary has something for non-golfing partners, too!

Cruises depart during June, July and August 2018, with prices ranging from US$4395pp for 10 nights on Canada’s East Coast Fins & Fiddles (or seven nights on the golf cruise) to US$11395pp for 12 nights sailing through the Northwest Passage, based on twin share accommodation.  All meals on board the ship and excursions as outlined in the itinerary are included.

A number of early booking offers are also being introduced by OOE.  These include 50% off the cost of charter flights to the Canadian Arctic; a one-night complimentary pre-voyage hotel per booking, and a US$100 shipboard credit per person (total of US$250) on the East Coast Fins and Fiddles and Canada’s East Coast Golf Expedition; as well as a US$1000pp air credit for Spitsbergen cruises.  These offers are based on new bookings made before 31 May 2017.
