New Antarctic Cruise Program Offers Greater Flexibility To Visit Patagonia and More Time in Polar Region

New Antarctic Cruise Program Offers Greater Flexibility To Visit Patagonia and More Time in Polar Region

London, 19 July 2017:  One Ocean Expeditions (OOE) has expanded its Antarctica programme for 2018/19 with the addition of fly/cruises, giving a choice of start and end points in South America, plus the option of travelling by ship across the Southern Ocean or flying to provide more time in destination.

OOE’s MD, Andrew Prossin, comments:  “Our Antarctic 2018-19 programme is based on proven itineraries combined with an increase in demand from clients to expand the gateways to Punta Arenas (Chile), King George Island (Antarctica) and Ushuaia (Argentina).

“We’ve listened to our guests and built in a greater amount of flexibility, enabling them to experience the wonders of Argentina and Chile pre- and post cruise, as well as to spend more time in Antarctica.”

Also new from OOE for the 2018/19 season is an increase in back-country ski groups up to a maximum of 16 guests on its Antarctica Off The Beaten Track itinerary.  The popularity of this early season expedition continues to grow, incorporating as it does multiple opportunities for adventure such as sea kayaking, overnight kayaking, ski touring, camping and photography. [12 nights from US$8895; 7th November 2018]

Additional departure dates have also been added for Falkland Islands, South Georgia & Antarctica cruises, with a special focus on the 16-night voyages, which incorporate flights from King George Island to Stanley, once again allowing more time in the destination. [16 nights from US$15995pp; 13 December 2018]

A choice of either a 14-night or a 16-night itinerary is also now available on South Georgia in Depth cruises, both of which spend an incredible eight days exploring South Georgia’s east coast.  In addition, the first departure [3 November 2018 from US$9895pp; 14 nights) will host OOE’s annual Antarctic photography symposium, with five leading professional photographers onboard.  By offering these two departure options, guests can choose their preferred gateway city for pre- and post-cruise travel, as well as opt to cross the southern ocean either onboard the ship or by plane.
Other highlights from OOE for 2018/19 include the incredible cetacean programme on its Marine Mammals in Antarctica departures.  Developed in conjunction with Dr Ari Friedlaender and the Santa Cruz Institute of Marine Sciences, it enables guests on board to gather data that will assist in realising new potential Marine Protected Areas in Antarctica.  This amazing opportunity reflects the company’s continued commitment to helping conserve the complex marine ecosystems of the Polar Regions.  [10 nights from US$8695; 23 March 2018]

For travellers looking to maximise 24-hour daylight, the 10-night Quest for the Antarctic Circle [from US$11,195pp; 29 December 2018, 12 January and 9th February 2019] and 11-night Ultimate Antarctica [from US$12095; 22 January 2019] voyages both coincide with this natural phenomenon at the height of the season.

Finally, there is also a new Early Booking Incentive from OOE for the 2018/19 season.  As in previous years the cruise specialist is offering a US$ travel credit, which reduces incrementally as the months progress, giving early bookers the biggest reward.   An amount of US$1500pp for October, November and March departures, and US$1000pp for December, January and February departures, is available based on bookings confirmed with a deposit by 2nd October 2017.  Travel credits will be automatically deducted from the cruise price at the time of booking.
